Council Logo If you are an Aboriginal student, college employee, client or community member, be assured that Northern College recognizes your right to practice your culture and to work and live as an Aboriginal person within the College environment.

Programs

  • Aboriginal programs and services are developed under the leadership and guidance of the Northern College Aboriginal Council on Education (NCACE).
  • Customized education and training programs are offered in First Nations communities with the help of Northern's Community-based Programs Coordinator.
  • Aboriginal apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs are coordinated by the Apprenticeship Programs Coordinator.
  • Many post-secondary programs and apprenticeship programs can be offered in First Nations communities so you can stay close to home and study.
  • Academic upgrading can be offered in First Nations communities.
Services
  • Northern's Aboriginal Student Advisor will help you with career, program, and course selection, admission requirements, program and financial aid applications, etc.
  • You can also get information on Aboriginal community resources, child care and housing, scholarships and bursaries and other college services.
  • The Aboriginal Student Advisor travels to all Northern campuses to assist you wherever you are studying.
  • A student-elected Native Assembly addresses Aboriginal student issues, and plans student activities and events.
