Basic Footcare

Program Length: Duration 2 Days

Program Overview
This course is designed to teach basic foot care skills that coincide with providing routine care in activities of daily living in accordance with standards or guidelines set out by the employer or institution. Emphasis is placed on providing care within the institution’s scope of practice and the ability to recognize common risk factors and foot problems that require referral to an appropriate health care provider. Prerequisites: Participants must be Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses or Developmental Services Worker (DSW).

This course includes:
• Structure and function of the foot
• Basic and non invasive foot care skills
• Cleaning and disinfecting
• Care of instruments
• Health assessment and history taking
