December 4, 2008 - Interim President Announced
Mr. Gibbons replaces outgoing President Michael Hill who will be on leave until September to complete his doctorate in higher education before taking early retirement.
Mr. Gibbons joined Northern College in 1992, first hired to develop curriculum. He has taught at the College and has held a variety of administrative roles. A firm believer in life-long learning, Fred is currently working on a Doctorate of Business Administration. He holds a master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree.
"The Board of Governors knows it can count on the support and commitment of our students, staff, alumni and of the communities we serve as Fred undertakes the responsibility of moving the College forward." says Board Chair Carol Halt and advised that the Board is in the process of undertaking a national search process to replace Michael Hill on a permanent basis.
"The Board would like to take this opportunity to wish outgoing president Michael Hill the best of academic success as he completes his studies” said Carol Halt, Board Chair. “Michael’s contribution to Northern College and to the communities it serves is appreciated and the Board thanks Michael for his vision, his advocacy and for his exemplary leadership.”
