March 16, 2009 - Tuition-Free Compressed Early Childhood Education Program Starts in Kirkland Lake and Haileybury
KIRKLAND LAKE – Northern College in collaboration with Timiskaming Best Start Initiative will be offering a tuition-free Early Childhood Education program starting in May at the Kirkland Lake and Haileybury campuses. Upgrading is available starting May 11, 2009 and a later start date will be available for those graduating in June from Ontario Secondary School.
The postsecondary program will be offered in a compressed format allowing students to graduate with a diploma in less than the two years that is normally required. Applicants who are permanent residents of Ontario and wish to work in the District of Timiskaming will receive free tuition, and transportation funding will be available. This is a specially designed program to help fulfill the demand for Early Childhood Educators and Resource Teacher jobs desperately needed in the District.
There will be information sessions in the Job Connect boardrooms in New Liskeard on March 19, from 1 to 2 PM and Kirkland Lake March 23, from 1 to 2 PM.
