June 19, 2009 - Summer Orientation Program for First-year Students with Disabilities

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities provides funding to Northern College to provide this service free of charge to assist learning disabled students make a successful transition to postsecondary education.

The “need to succeed” is important to all Northern College students and adjusting to learning at a postsecondary level can be a whole new experience for the learning disabled who already manage a multitude of personal challenges.

The five-day sessions will provide students with an orientation to the services and facilities that are available to them at the College. Students will make personal connections with staff in the Learning and disABILITIES Centres and receive information about the support and services that are available. Students will be introduced to new technology, learning approaches and theories for the disabled.

These free session will be held at the:

Porcupine Campus:
Session 1
August 17 – 21
Session 2
August 24 - 28

Kirkland Lake and Haileybury Campuses:
August 31 – September 4
