Timmins, ON: For the first time in Ontario, McDonald’s employees can now receive credits towards a college business diploma, thanks to a new agreement between Colleges Ontario and McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Limited. The agreement will create a province wide partnership with McDonald’s Canada, a leading Canadian business, to establish a prior-learning recognition system.
Northern College, along with twenty-three (23) public colleges across Ontario, has agreed to grant recognition for first-year business credit into the Business Diploma Program or Business Administration Advanced Diploma Program to McDonald’s managers who have successfully completed the management development program level 2, with some additional requirements. This means that employees will have the opportunity to directly enter a second-year business diploma or business administration advanced diploma program.
“We’re very fortunate to be able to offer such an amazing program with McDonald’s Canada to our northern communities,” said Dean Lessard, Associate Dean, Business, Community Services and International of Northern College. “This unique arrangement reflects our commitment to providing accessible education opportunities to local learners through innovative programs and partnerships.”
Upon completion of McDonald’s Management Development Program Level 2, successful applicants to Northern’s Business Diploma program can complete a 2-year Ontario College diploma in as little as 1-year. This may lead to significant cost-savings for eligible employees by reducing the number of courses and time required to earn a diploma – with potential savings of up to $4,500.
McDonald’s employees in our local communities (as well as across Ontario) can conveniently enroll in Business Diploma programs via September and January intakes at all of Northern College’s campus locations or via distance learning.
