The goal of First Year Experience Services is to encourage student success by promoting early intervention strategies to all on-campus students and distance learners. We are here to help you adjust to college life and your academic program by getting you the answers you need to succeed.

Services Offered

First Year Experience Advising
Advisors are available to offer academic and personal guidance. They will support students who believe they could benefit from having some additional support. If you feel you are struggling with keeping on track, feeling overwhelmed or just need additional information, the First Year Advisors will be there to assist. Services include:

  • Workshops, boot camps and mentor program
  • Learning Supports
  • Campus services and community referrals
  • Assistance funding applications
  • Assistance/Referral with Prior Learning Assessments
  • Peer Mentoring program
  • Presentation to various college departments and community organizations
  • Development of an individualized plan of success following post admission testing

First Generation Services
Are you the first person in your family to attend college or university? We have customized services that will help you get through your college career. Even before you start your program, here are some of the services we can provide you:

  • Orientation – help to familiarize yourself with the college atmosphere
  • Lunch and learns
  • Assistance with bursary applications
  • Social activities
  • Supports and guidance
  • Advising in a comfortable atmosphere where you can ask questions in confidence about your personal or academic life
  • Study tips and resources
  • Workshops
