TIMMINS, ON: Northern College’s Board of Governors has announced that Fred Gibbons has been appointed for a second term as President and CEO of Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology.
Since July of 2009, Gibbons has been leading the College’s efforts as President and CEO and has been instrumental in positioning Northern as a trainer of choice for students, industry and community partners. He spearheaded the Porcupine Campus expansion campaign that saw the construction of Northern’s Centre of Excellence for Trades and Technology and has forged partnerships that have moved the college forward while benefiting communities within the College’s catchment area.
Gibbons has worked with the College in various capacities for nearly 20 years. First contracted in 1992 to develop curriculum and to teach, Gibbons has carried out the roles of Registrar and Director of Student Services, Executive Director College Development and Registrar, Principal of the Haileybury School of Mines, as well as Executive Regional Director.
“Fred Gibbons has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the success of Northern College, its students and the communities it serves,” says Dave McGirr, Chair of the Northern College Board of Governors. “We are at a time of transition and renewal and the continuity of his leadership will complement Northern College’s new strategic direction. Fred’s leadership will bring Northern College to the forefront of education and innovation for the benefit of northeastern Ontario.”
President Gibbons’ renewed appointment is for a five-year term, effective July 1st, 2012.
