Joint Health and Safety Part 1

Program Description

Joint health and safety committees assist in providing greater protection against workplace injury and illness and deaths. Joint health and safety committees involve representatives from workers and employers. This co-operative involvement ensures that everything possible is done to identify and eliminate or mitigate workplace health and safety hazards. Those interested in becoming Health and Safety Committee Members (including both worker and management representatives), Supervisors, Health and Safety Managers.

• Internal Responsibility System (I.R.S.)
• Health and Safety Law and the Joint Health and Safety Committee
• Hazard Identification and Controls and Workplace Inspections
• Incident (Accident) Investigations


Joint Health and Safety Part 2: Education

Program Description

As the second part of the JHSC certification process, Sector Specific Certification assists JHSC members with issues particular to their work environment. Each sector specific training includes information on hazards pertaining to their particular work environment including the following: Infection Prevention and Control; Safe Client Handling; Indoor Air Quality; Workplace Violence Prevention; Musculoskeletal Disorders; Slip & Fall Prevention; Emergency Management and Fire Safety; Contractor Safety; Chemical Hazards and more.


Joint Health and Safety Part 2: Industrial

Duration: 2 Days | Dates & Times: TBA | Delivery: In-Class
Program Description

The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires employers of industrial establishments to provide training to at least two members of the JHSC on the “significant hazards” in their workplace.
This unique two-day course prepares participants for certification for industrial establishment hazards according to WSIB certification criteria. Hazard identification, assessment and control with respect to the significant hazards of a typical industrial establishment is the focus of this course. Participants will also learn how to complete the four-step process to obtain part two WSIB certification for industrial establishments.

Program Description
