Emergency Services Programs
This one year graduate certificate will provide a comprehensive overview and working knowledge of the many facets of Emergency Management (Prevention, Mitigation, Response and Recovery), as well as the ever evolving world of Intelligence, Terrorism, Cybersecurity and Pandemic Planning. Graduates will be well prepared to take on leadership roles in municipal, provincial and federal response planning and coordination. Legislative frameworks, risk assessment and crisis communications curriculum will be complemented by unique courses in terrorism, pandemic/mass casualty planning, and cybersecurity.

This four-semester program provides the skills and knowledge needed to deliver emergency care in the pre-hospital setting. Classroom components emphasizing biological science, humanities and ambulance services provide the theoretical basis for the interventions required to deal with medical or trauma emergencies. Emphasis is placed on the ability to communicate well with patients, families and health care professionals and to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team. Clinical labs and field placements provide a milieu where students are able to apply theory into practice through assessment and the provision of a primary level of care.

Our Police Foundations Program is geared to provide an exciting learning experience for all our students. Academic studies combined with hands on realistic training gives our students the skills and knowledge they will need in furthering their goals of obtaining a career in law enforcement. Due to our smaller class sizes the students have the access to instructors and learning material that helps them to be successful in their studies. Students will have the opportunity to volunteer with the O.P.P. in their block training during winter semesters. This is a chance to see firsthand officer training and gain networking accessibility.

The Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program will prepare students for a career in fire-fighting, and features an on-campus live burn training facility to provide hands on practice for students in essential fire-fighting skills.
This program provides applicants with the required knowledge and skills through vocational courses in fire fighting, generic skills and general education courses in order to enhance job performance as a firefighter. Students have the opportunity to consolidate and apply theoretical knowledge through lab and field placements within regional Fire Services.
