Northern College Board Approves 2013-2014 Business Plan

TIMMINS, ON: Northern College’s Board of Governors has approved the 2013-2014 Business Plan which will guide the college’s undertakings for the next academic year. This is the first business plan stemming from the recently released 2013-2016 Strategic Plan which came into effect on April 1st of this year. Northern College’s success as a hub of education, training, innovation and transformation in northeastern Ontario is driven by four priority objectives stated in the plan: Accessible Education, Signature Programs, the Northern Experience and Aboriginal Perspectives.

Northern College Graduates Continue to Impress

TIMMINS, ON: According to new data released by Colleges Ontario, Northern College graduates continue to find high levels of employment and receive rave reviews from employers, improving on last year’s impressive results. Released today, the 2012-13 Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Key Performance Indicators (KPI) highlight a 97.2 per cent employer satisfaction rate with Northern College graduates.

Haileybury School of Mines Hosts 30th Annual Gem and Mineral Show

Event: Join Northern College’s Haileybury School of Mines and the Gangue-sters Rock & Mineral Club for the 30th annual Gem & Mineral Show. Whether you are interested in acquiring a unique gift like mineral specimens, crystals, tumbled stones, jewelry, and handmade crafts or you’d like to educate yourself on Mother Nature’s mineral wonders, there is much to explore.

Pilot Water Treatment Plan Unveiled at Northern College

KIRKLAND LAKE, ON: Northern College’s Kirkland Lake campus now boasts a pilot water treatment plant (WTP). The WTP will provide an invaluable teaching resource to students in our Environmental Technician – Water & Waste Water Systems Operations program, providing students the opportunity to treat and purify raw water using a chemically assisted filtration process, in which the students operate, control and monitor the process at every step.

Haileybury Open House A Huge Success

HAILEYBURY, ON: On Saturday, April 13, Northern College’s Haileybury Campus welcomed over 200 people to their annual open house.

Battling wintery conditions, potential students and their families drove from across Ontario to learn about Northern’s programs and services and tour the state-of-the-art Veterinary Sciences Centre, Haileybury School of Mines Hall of Fame, the newly renovated Health Sciences department and view plans for the upcoming residence building.
