TIMMINS, ON: Northern College and Algoma University today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to provide a pathway for International students to transfer seamlessly from a completed Northern College diploma program offered in China to a degree program in Ontario at Algoma University.
“We are excited to sign this MoA with Algoma University as it allows us to further strengthen our existing international student recruitment initiatives in China” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “This agreement represents a natural extension of the productive partnership we have been able to develop with Algoma University given our mutually shared goal of increasing student access to a quality post-secondary education.”
This specific agreement builds on the positive working relationship that Northern College and Algoma University have established at their Northern Ontario campuses. The MoA will extend the existing Joint Admissions Agreement between the two post-secondary institutions that came into effect last September. That agreement is designed to reduce the time, cost and barriers that exist in transferring to a degree program. It also allows students the opportunity to maximize their post-secondary education by combining their college diploma with a university degree.
“Algoma University is very pleased to be working with Northern College to create new pathways that enable international students to have increased access to university level study, said Dr. Craig Chamberlin, President of Algoma University. “We are delighted with our expanding collaboration with Northern College and see this as another step in our ongoing efforts to expand post-secondary educational access.”
