Northern College Partners with Dailey’s Independent Grocer to Support Future Leaders

TIMMINS, ON: Last year, Northern College launched its Leaders of Tomorrow Campaign – with a goal to raise $250,000 to create an endowment that will sustain the current level of annual entrance scholarships awarded to students in our region, in perpetuity.

Since the launch, a great number of businesses and organizations throughout northeastern Ontario have stepped forward to partner with Northern College and invested in the Leaders of Tomorrow Campaign. The total money raised to date is $193,289 which represents 77.3% of the overall goal.

“We are grateful to all the organizations who have generously donated to our campaign that supports local students in accessing a first-class college education close to home,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College.

As part of the public campaign, Dailey’s Independent Grocer has partnered with Northern College by hosting a “Check-Out Donation” initiative. Customers can support this initiative by purchasing a donation card at check out between May 7th and May 21st, 2016.

Deanna Van Bommel, a Northern College alumnus and recipient of this entrance scholarship in 2013 paid it forward today by purchasing the first donation card.

“I’d like to personally thank Dailey’s Independent Grocer for helping to support the Leaders of Tomorrow campaign in this way. Receiving an entrance scholarship was extremely helpful and allowed me to stay in my community to receive my college education and pursue my career locally.”

It takes a community to graduate a student. By investing in the Leaders of Tomorrow campaign, donors will be making a direct impact on the next generation of local leaders and professionals.
