TIMMINS, ON: Northern College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Greenstone Regional Skills Centre, which will see the college and skills centre collaborating to provide skills training programs in northwestern Ontario.
The Greenstone Regional Skills Centre provides apprenticeship, post-secondary and short form training in Greenstone, Ontario. The centre provides training relevant to local employers, particularly in mining and related industries. The centre has a dedicated emphasis on training Aboriginal peoples.
“This partnership is an excellent opportunity for us to work together with Greenstone Regional Skills Centre to achieve some of our common goals,” says Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “We both have a strong commitment to increasing access to education, particularly for Aboriginal learners, and we’re looking forward to offering new education options to people and employers in the Greenstone area.”
Northern College offers a wide variety of programming in areas relevant to industries in the Greenstone region, including mining and environmental sciences. The college delivers training at the preparatory, apprenticeship, post-secondary and graduate certificate levels.
