KIRKLAND LAKE, ON: Northern College is set to host a major announcement about the future of the Kirkland Lake Campus Auditorium. The announcement, which will be held in the auditorium at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21st, is open to members of the public.
Friday’s announcement follows the successful completion of the Kirkland Lake Auditorium Renewal Project’s Buy a Seat campaign. The campaign, which solicited donations to replace the auditorium’s aged seating, was successfully concluded in February, 2014. The seating has since been replaced.
Northern College President Fred Gibbons, Vice-President, Finance, Administration and Aboriginal Services Mike Baker, and members of the college’s Board of Governors and senior management team are set to attend Friday’s announcement.
Denise Deschamps, Initiatives Officer at FedNor, will also be in attendance.
“We’re thrilled that the contributions we received from the Kirkland Lake community have already resulted in some major improvements to the Kirkland Lake Auditorium,” says Gibbons. “Our vision for the fully renewed auditorium involves a variety of additional improvements, including new lighting and a new sound system. Friday’s announcement will reveal how we plan to realize that vision.”
The Northern College Kirkland Lake Campus auditorium is an essential resource for the Town of Kirkland Lake. The 500-seat venue hosts a variety of cultural events including concerts and live theatre, and is used during community events like the town’s annual Homecoming and Winter Carnival.
