TIMMINS, ON: Northern College is pleased to announce six new appointments to the Board of Governors. The three external appointments are Mr. Mike Baker of New Liskeard, Mr. Rock Foy of Timmins and Mr. Alan Spacek of Kapuskasing.
Mr. Baker brings a blend of operations management, accounting and human resources experience. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Englehart and District Hospital and Executive Director of Englehart Family Health Team.
Mr. Foy has served as the Director of Human Resources with the City of Timmins since 2005. In this post he manages all aspects of employee and labour relations for over 800 staff, ensuring the organizational development of the city enables the achievement of strategic goals.
Mr. Spacek is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Kapuskasing where he was born and raised. An active resident of the community, Mayor Spacek is a strong proponent of economic development for northern Ontario.
The three internal appointments are Ms. Cheryl Carbone, Administrative Representative; Mr. John Collins, Academic Representative and Ms. Sherry-Anne Panagapka, Support Staff Representative.

Northern College’s Board of Governors’ responsibilities include the effective governing of management, achievement of the College’s mandate, and to provide needed services. The Board of Governors is accountable to students, employers and the communities Northern College serves. Because the college is supported by public funding, the Board of Governors is also accountable to the citizens of Ontario.
