Prerequisites
In order to enroll in this program, participants must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid class ā€˜Gā€™ license and possess a minimum education level of Grade 10 or equivalent. Prior to starting the course, the participant must at their own cost, complete a MTO physical and show proof of completion of the MTO written test.

Classroom Instruction – Minimum 62 Hours
Participants will be provided with the information required in order to operate transport trucks in a safe and effective manner. Classroom may include web conferencing and/or face to face instruction.

Fieldwork Instruction – Minimum 40 Hours

  • Job Communication
  • Perform Pre-start Inspection
  • Complete Operational Checks
  • Complete shutdown and Parking procedures
  • Operational Procedures

*Practical and safe operation of a forklift to be practised in the field*

Operating/Drive Time – Minimum 50 Hours
Participants will receive 50 hours of drive time with an instructor. This includes trips on highways, city streets and back roads. Particular attention will be paid to defensive driving. As well, the instructor will introduce real world scenarios that a driver may encounter.

Other Training – Minimum 48 Hours
Other training in the classroom, fieldwork or operating portion of the program may include: observation, simulator training.
