    Graduates of the Electrical Techniques Program gain basic knowledge of electrical functions within a controlled electrical environment. Graduates have demonstrated achievement of vocational learning outcomes which relate to trade practices under the supervision of a qualified person.

    The program introduces a range of skills, knowledge, and attitudes required by graduates in order to gain a basic understanding of the electrical field. Graduates of the program have had exposure to a number of electrical functions, such as assisting in the installation, testing, maintaining, and repairing, analyzing and troubleshooting specified electrical circuits, equipment, and systems, under the supervision of a qualified person. Graduates have a basic understanding of the principles and will need much more theory and practical hands-on training to be safe and productive in the electrical industry.

    This program introduces a number of common skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential to entry-level employees in the electrical field. Graduates may choose to write the Level I apprenticeship certification exam.

    Admission Requirements

    Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
    Grade 12 English (C, M, U)
    Grade 12 Math (C, M, U) (MCT4C preferred; MAP4C is accepted with a minimum GPA of 60%)

    Or equivalent.

    Or mature student status (an applicant who does not have a high school diploma or equivalent, and will have reached the age of 19 years on or before the start of the program). Mature students must undergo academic testing prior to admission into a program. Call the Admissions Office at 705-235-7222 for more details.
