    Technicians, technologists and skilled workers are retiring in record numbers. This leaves graduates with more job opportunities than they may have ever imagined. Salaries in these fields can rival those of professions like teaching, law and medicine!

    Employers are calling Northern nearly every day looking for graduates to fill positions. For example, an Instrumentation Technician graduate can get a job within days of graduating with a salary of about $50,000 a year!

    Features and Highlights

    • Civil Engineering Technology, unique in Ontario, allows you to earn your Advanced Ontario Diploma in just two years instead of three!
    • Laptops are used in the Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technician: Building Management, and Building Inspection Technician programs (Porcupine Campus).
    • The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) conditionally recognizes the following programs as meeting all the academic requirements for certification: Electrical Engineering Technician, Construction Engineering Technician: Building Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, and Instrumentation Engineering Technician.
    • As well as being recognized by OCWA, the program is also recognized by Northern Waterworks and a number of municipalities across Ontario.
    • The Environmental Technician: Water and Wastewater Systems Operations program was designed to meet the stringent laws for water and wastewater plant operations. This program is recognized by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) and will give graduates the skills to become certified Class I Operators.
    • Instrumentation Engineering Technician graduates enjoy a high placement rate and excellent wages and benefits.
    • Northern is a member of the four-college provincial consortium established in partnership with Hydro One to help meet the power sector’s needs for skilled workers.
