This program is a job-readiness/postsecondary readiness program designed to meet the unique educational and/or vocational needs of people who would not normally consider or qualify for entry into a traditional postsecondary program, or for those people with complex disabilities who require one-to-one intervention or continuous access to technology in order to benefit from academic studies.

This program is individualized and supports individuals who:

  • have graduated from high school with workplace credits;
  • have substantially modified courses and/or have an Ontario Secondary School Certificate and are having difficulty finding appropriate and meaningful work;
  • are having difficulty finding an appropriate entry point into further postsecondary education

In addition, students participate in career planning, workplace essential skills training including life skills, literacy and numeracy skills, communication skills, customer service skills, basic technology skills, and work experience placements.

Students will have the opportunity to complete various certificates, such as WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Ontario SuperHost, Safe Food Handling, and others.

Students enrolled in this program are eligible for loans and grants.

Employment Opportunities

Students completing the program may enter another postsecondary program or the workplace in an entry-level position primarily in the hospitality or retail sector.

Admission Requirements

Mature students or students who are 18 years of age who have graduated from high school with workplace credits, modified courses, and/or an Ontario Secondary School Certificate. Students must participate in an interview/assessment with Learner Services staff to be recommended into the program.

Or equivalent.
