TIMMINS, ON: Northern College has signed a degree completion pathway agreement with the Institute of Technology Sligo (IT Sligo) in Ireland to provide two new pathways for qualified students to transfer seamlessly from completed diploma programs into degree programs in Environmental Science and Mechatronics.

The new transfer agreement allows graduates of Northern’s Environmental technician – Water and Wastewater Systems Operations program the opportunity to transfer their college credits directly with IT Sligo into a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Protection degree program. Similarly, qualified Northern students who have completed their two-year Instrumentation and Control Engineering program can now transfer into IT Sligo’s Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics program.

“We are excited about our new agreement with IT Sligo as it provides a great international opportunity for our learners,” said Dr. Audrey Penner, Vice-President, Academic and Student Success of Northern College. “Our students now have two additional pathways to complete their degree requirements with just one additional year of study.”

“We are delighted to expand our extensive Colleges Ontario institutional partnerships to now include Northern College. Our partnership provides flexible, full credit transfer degree completion pathways (full-time and on-line) to Northern College Diploma and Advanced Diploma students in a wide variety of subject areas,” said Patrick Lynch, International Manager at IT Sligo. “Applicants can apply for admission to the relevant IT Sligo degree program via our local representatives, KOM Consultants, based in Hamilton, Ontario.”

The agreement is designed to create a seamless transfer to IT Sligo’s degree programs. It also allows students the opportunity to leverage their post-secondary education by combining their college diploma with a university degree.
