Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
Knowledge and skills gained through life experience may be assessed for credit through the process of PLA. Assessment may take the form of written portfolios, demonstration, testimonials, tests, projects, etc. Students applying for PLA should contact Student Services (within the time frame outlined in the Academic Calendar) who will direct them to the campus-designated PLA staff member. Students must apply using the Request for Advanced Standing Form, pay all applicable fees, and provide documentation. Credit obtained through PLA is recorded as "CR" on the student's transcript and is not factored into the GPA.
