For Tweens & Teens By Shandelle McCurdie
1.5 hour class for 4 weeks
Teaching students basic drawing skills and creative techniques in order to establish their artistic foundation.
Introduction of myself and all students. Get to know our materials and sketchbooks. Blind Contours to warm up, get loose and get goofy. Learn sketching techniques and putting them to practice.
Using our sketching techniques we will learn about light, shadow and perspectives. Here, we will touch on the basics of colour theory and analyze a few famous artists.
Students will choose a photo of their own and will create their own piece using lines, shapes, shadows, composition and colour with a variety of drawing tools. This could be a landscape, cityscape, interior, or an object study.
Finishing touches on our pieces followed by discussion of our process. I will share with them a sketchbook challenge that they can use to fill the rest of their sketchbooks on their own time.
