Highway Maintenance Worker Program

Participants will learn the skills required to become qualified road maintenance workers.

Start date:
January 7, 2019 (for applicants who do not have a DZ license)
February 4, 2019 (for applicants who already have a valid DZ license)

Admission Requirements

  • A valid DZ license**
  • 18 years of age
  • Minimum education level of Grade 10 or equivalent

This 12-week program includes training in:

  • Snow plow operation and maintenance
  • Loader, Forklift, and Skid steer operation
  • Road and Weather Reports
  • Steel and Cable guide rail replacement and repair
  • Summer and Winter Road Patrolling
  • Inclement weather patterns and their impact on operations
  • Best practices for treating roads before, during and after weather events
  • Salt and Sand Management
  • Emergency Response
  • Accurate documentation
  • Snow plow Placement (160 hours)

**DZ training available. Sudbury only. Additional cost.
