Microsoft Office Project 2010 Advanced

Microsoft Office Project 2010 is one of the most popular scheduling and project management programs on the market. This new version of Project incorporates the ribbon interface with familiar project management tools to provide an easy-to-use project management experience. This Advanced level is intended to help everyday computer users and managers understand advanced concepts in Microsoft Project 2010. This manual will also help more experienced users who have little experience with macro reports, WBS code, and shapes in Project 2010. Highlights of the course include an overview of importing and exporting Project files, creating visual reports with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio, creating graphical indicators, working with shapes, formatting the Gantt chart, working with multiple projects, information on the versions of Microsoft Project, and tutorials on creating macros in Project.

Working with Project Files
To begin, participants will learn how to import and export files, sync a task list with SharePoint, and import tasks from Microsoft Outlook. Participants will also learn about using the Organizer, saving cube data, and comparing projects.

Advanced Topics
This section will focus on a variety of advanced project tools. Topics will include working with variances, editing fixed tasks, adding hyperlinks and custom fields, managing project costs, and using the Work Breakdown Structure code.

Formatting Your Project
Next, participants will learn all about adding and formatting shapes in Project. They will also learn how to format the Gantt chart.

Creating Reports
In this section, participants will learn how to create text-based reports as well as visual reports with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio. Participants will also learn how to create and format network diagrams and calendars.

Working with Multiple Projects
This section will begin with an overview of the versions of Microsoft Project, including Project Web Access and Project Server. Next, participants will learn about resource pools, sub projects, and consolidated projects. Participants will also learn how to view the critical path and baseline for master and consolidated projects.
