TIMMINS, ON: Northern College is pleased to announce its newest pathway for learners developed in conjunction with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The pathways defined are to a number of UOIT programs including degrees in Commerce, Applied Health Sciences, Criminology and Justice, and Education to name a few. These pathways represent the opportunity for students to carry on to a degree at UOIT, and the unique ability to complete the degree while at Northern.
“We have been working on this partnership for a little over a year now” says Dr. Audrey J. Penner, Vice president Academic and Student Success at Northern College “and this is just the beginning of some exciting collaborative opportunities we are working on with UOIT.” The goal of the agreement is to enhance quality and access for Northern College students something which is a mandate within the College’s strategic plan. “We will continue to develop consistent, seamless, and flexible pathways,” says Dr. Penner.
Dr. Robert Bailey, Provost and Vice-President, Academic (Interim) for UOIT quoted “UOIT is very excited about this new collaboration with Northern College. We pride ourselves on working with colleges within and beyond Ontario to provide students with great opportunities in our tech-infused programs. We look forward to welcoming Northern College grads to our Oshawa or virtual campus to continue their education in our social and health sciences, education, business and information technology programs and prepare themselves for success in their chosen career.”
“In the absence of a permanent university with a breadth of programming in Timmins, these innovative pathways create accessible, local opportunities for college graduates who choose not to directly enter the workforce after completion of their college diploma, in favor of further studies at the undergraduate level,” said Northern College President and CEO, Dr. Fred Gibbons.
