Information for Faculty
We understand that you likely have many questions about what library resources will be available to help support teaching and learning needs. Effective March 20th, 2020, the following changes affecting staff/faculty have been implemented:
• Northern College’s libraries are closed until further notice, and face-to-face service has been replaced with virtual help (Ask-The-Library), by text (705-302-1076 for college-wide), or email to your campus library technician.
• Library staff are still working to support faculty in finding the right resources to support online learning.
• Students and faculty will have the ability to request digital scans of reserve or book chapters, and possibly even the option of borrowing physical material (books & laptops), by request only, and by following some guidelines to respect social distancing. Ontario colleges libraries are applying a section of the Copyright Act to allow the digital reproduction of some resources during these extraordinary circumstances.
• If you were currently using a media format that will not work with online learning, please contact Shannon Arsenault by email (arsenaults@northern.on.ca) to discuss an alternative format. Writing help for students will still be available by request, and will be delivered through a combination of email and Blackboard Collaborate.
