Course Description
CM1933 Enhanced Communications I is a practical class designed to help non-native English speakers improve their English skills so that they can successfully complete their college program of choice. Through formal lessons and interactive activities, students acquire new vocabulary and apply various grammar concepts. Topics covered in this class include, but are not limited to, sentence types/structures, parts of speech, punctuation, verb tenses, and subject-verb agreement.
EG2013 Students continue to build their listening and speaking skills. Through teacher instructions and small group listening and speaking activities, students continue to develop listening strategies and the ability to speak about familiar topics in a variety of situations. 
EG2023 Students improve their reading comprehension skills and continue to develop reading strategies.  Students read a variety of short texts and continue to build vocabulary.
EG2033 Students continue to develop grammar and sentence structure skills. They write coherent and organized paragraphs, using a combination of simple, compound and complex sentences.

CM2933 Enhanced Communications II is a practical class designed to help non-native English speakers improve their English skills so that they can successfully complete their college program of choice. Through formal lessons and interactive activities, students acquire new vocabulary and apply various grammar concepts. Topics covered in this class include, but are not limited to, word choice, sentence fragments, run-on sentences, formal/informal style of writing, and figurative language. 
EG2003 Students continue to develop and integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.  English for routine everyday social contexts in Canadian life is taught and practiced. Through in-class and online study, students improve their overall English skills to enhance general communication.

IN1093 In this course, students will gain practical experience with the essential features of Microsoft Office – MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint to enhance their communication and analytical skills. Basic computer skills are required as prerequisite. Students will gain hands-on experience with file management, software settings, system security, Word Reports (APA Functions), tables, advanced presentation functions, summarizing and analyzing data in Excel through a series of learning activities, projects, and exercises that focus on real world examples.  Students gain practical knowledge that can be applied directly to the workplace setting.
Fees:
  • Tuition fee: $9,000 ($4,500 per semester)
  • Student Ancillary Fee: $900 including fees charged to support services and activities and International Insurance of $550/year for international students who will study the program in Canada
  • Pearson Versant Placement Test: $45/student (for students who do not have a valid IELTS/TOEFL result and want to take the virtual Pearson Versant English placement test organized by the college).

1-semester ESL program +1-year GAS EAP program (semesters 1 and 2) + College program of choice

Option for Implementation – To Be Determined: Non-SDS Students who score between a 31 and 34 on the GSE will have option for an interview to determine if they can bypass ESL.

1-year GAS EAP program (semesters 1 and 2) + College program of choice

Option for Implementation – To Be Determined: Non-SDS Students who score between a 41 and 44 on the GSE will have option for an interview to determine if they can bypass the first semester of EAP.

Second semester of the GAS EAP Program only + College program of choice

Option for Implementation – To Be Determined: Non-SDS Students who score between a 51 and 54 on the GSE will have option for an interview to determine if they can bypass both ESL and EAP.

Application

Once we receive your complete application and you meet the admission requirements, an offer letter (or Letter of Acceptance) will be issued to you. Students then must pay the tuition fee within the expiration date on your offer letter (usually two to three weeks) so that we can conserve the seat for you.
