New Appointments to Northern College Board of Governors

TIMMINS ON: Northern College’s Board of Governors has announced several new appointments for the upcoming year.

After leading the board for the last year and six years of dedicated service, Bob McBean will be stepping down as Chair. Taking his place will be Timmins entrepreneur Don Wyatt who has served on the Board of Governors since 2009. Rounding out the board executive are First Vice-Chair, Denis Berube; Second Vice-Chair, George Kemp; Governor at Large, Rachel Pineault; and Northern College President, Fred Gibbons.

“I would like to commend the 2012-2013 board for their commitment to the College’s mission and vision,” said Bob McBean. “I leave satisfied with the direction we have provided and the goals that the College has achieved. I am quite confident the new board will provide exceptional leadership and direction.”

“I’ve enjoyed my time with the Board of Governors and look forward to the coming year as Chair,” said Don Wyatt. “Mr. McBean’s dedication to the growth of Northern College will not be forgotten.”

New to the Northern College Board of Governors are Catherine Le Clerc and Scott Molson.
Le Clerc has been appointed as an external member, representing Kirkland Lake. A Northern College alumnus, Catherine is a Financial Advisor with TD Canada Trust. Molson is currently the President of the Northern College Student Association (NCSA) in Kirkland Lake and will hold the board’s student representative position from September 2013 until August 2014.

Internal member, Micheal Miller, has been reelected for another three-year term. Miller was also reappointed as Chair of the Northern College Aboriginal Council on Education (NCACE). Miller serves on the College’s Board of Governors in his capacity as NCACE Chair; the terms coincide.

“Our new board members offer a wealth of experience and add great value to Northern College. The incoming board is well equipped to ensure Northern’s continued success in providing quality, accessible education that is responsive to the needs of our communities,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College.
