TIMMINS, ON: Earlier this week, Northern College’s Board of Governors unanimously supported the renaming of the Porcupine Campus to Timmins Campus.
The aim of this change is to facilitate a greater understanding of Northern College’s campus locations and the lifestyle the communities offer. The college has experienced growth in enrollment by students from outside the college catchment area which includes over 65 communities throughout northeastern Ontario and along the James Bay Coast.
“As we have seen an influx of interest from learners from all over Ontario, throughout Canada and internationally, this is a logical and necessary step in refining our marketing and recruitment efforts,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “Students looking to attend one of our college campuses will often research the community where they plan to study and we want to make it easier for these individuals to find the information they are looking for.”
Changing to Northern College Timmins Campus also provides significant opportunity to capitalize on the City of Timmins’ recent branding efforts. As the city reaches into wider markets and establishes a top-of-mind presence provincially, nationally and internationally, the Timmins Campus will also garner recognition.
Changes to marketing material will be seen as early as September of this year.
