TIMMINS, ON: Northern College is seeking community contribution in preparing nominations for the 2013 Premier’s Awards for Outstanding College Graduates. The Premier’s Awards were created by the government to acknowledge the success of Ontario’s college graduates. Nominations are submitted from each of Ontario’s 24 public colleges in six categories: Business, Creative Arts and Design, Community Services, Health Sciences, Technology and Recent Graduate.
“We are very proud of our alumni. Their success is our success,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “We encourage the community to join in acknowledging and celebrating their achievements and positive impact on our community.”

Premier’s Awards winners will be announced at a gala awards evening on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Toronto. Each award winner is presented with a bronze medal, a framed certificate signed by the Premier of Ontario, and a $5,000 bursary directed to their alma mater.
Administered by Colleges Ontario, the Premier’s Awards for Outstanding College Graduates were launched in 1992 to mark the 25th anniversary of Ontario’s colleges. More than 800 people attended the gala celebration last year.
Past Northern College Premier’s Awards recipients include Donald C. MacKinnon and Donald Jan Dekker, who both received the Premier’s Award for Technology. Previous Northern College nominees include Nancy Allick, Dan Dutrisac, Carol Halt, David Landers, Robert Stanley Lipic, Martin Michaud, Barb Reid and Mariette Rheault.
