KIRKLAND LAKE, ON: The Canadian Welding Association (CWA) Foundation has named Northern College professor David Rogalsky the 2016 recipient of the Exceptional Educator Award. He was presented with the award at the CanWeld Conference in Edmonton, Alberta, on October 5, 2016.
Created this year, the CWA Foundation Exceptional Educator Award recognizes a post-secondary welding educator within Canada who has demonstrated outstanding efforts and displays of dedication.
After a successful career in the welding industry, Rogalsky returned to his alma mater to serve as a welding processes professor. In addition to his passion for welding, Rogalsky’s dedication to teaching and genuine focus on his students is demonstrated in his continual creative efforts to ensure that his students understand key concepts. His teaching methods create an interactive environment that promotes participation and includes demonstrations, field trips and tours.
“David Rogalsky’s passion and enthusiasm for welding and teaching make him a very deserving recipient of this year’s CWA Foundation Exceptional Educator Award,” said Joshua Fuller, Program Coordinator of the School of Welding Engineering Technology at Northern College’s Kirkland Lake Campus. “He goes above and beyond the expectations that are placed on him, spending many hours of his own time in the lab, assisting students with the technical projects they complete in their final year of study.”
In accepting the Exceptional Educator Award, Rogalsky spoke of the special honour of being selected as the first recipient. He also felt the recognition should go to his teachers, not himself because he is the result of his teachers’ great efforts and encouragement.
With his unwavering commitment, Rogalsky serves as a positive role model for students, making sure they are likewise able to strive towards their full potential.
