Mining Simulator Training

Mining Simulators allow for precise training in a safe and controlled environment, preventing unnecessary dangers on the mine site and reducing the frequency of accidents. Northern College has a Thoroughtec C4 Mining Simulator on campus and offers four courses:

Pre-Employment Screening Courses (Half day)
CAT 785C Haul Truck Pre-Employment Screening
CAT 992G Loader Pre-Employment Screening

Refresher Courses (1 Day)
CAT 785C Haul Truck Refresher Training
CAT 992G Loader Refresher Training

Trainees will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge to safely operate a CAT 785C dump truck or a CAT 992G front end loader in a simulated environment.
  • Become aware of faults and bad habits they have while operating the simulator.
  • Identify any shortcomings they may have with respect of showing competency in the applicable skills listed in the MTCU U5042: Operate Production Haulage Truck or MTCU U5039: Operate Front End Loader where applicable.

Employers will be able to determine if candidates have the necessary experience and/or basic competencies for the job.
Trainer sign offs available if student shows competency. Only available for Refresher Courses.
