Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Pre-Apprenticeship
About this Training Program
The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) pre-apprenticeship program is designed to provide learners with an exposure to the HDET Trade. Offered at our Timmins Campus, the program in intended to be delivered face-to-face following public health guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. The program includes an academic upgrading, trade readiness which will include health and safety training as well as an exposure to Electrical as a secondary trade, the level 1 theory and an 8-week placement.
Duration: 40 weeks

Pre-requisites (may include but not be limited to):
- Academic Assessment and proof of education
- Interest in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics as a career
- Screening interview
Delivery and Important Information
Delivery method is intended to be face-to-face. Virtual training may occur as needed based on public health guidelines. All practical components will be face to face.
Pathways to Success and Career Opportunities
Graduates will gain exposure to trades, Health and Safety Certifications and, accreditation for the level 1 training upon becoming registered as apprentices. Students would be able to start working as helpers or registered apprentices in the trades upon program completion.
